The Young Doctors Association (YDA) once again took to the streets on Thursday to protest against the privatisation of government hospitals and to demand a pay raise.
The doctors boycotted the OPDs of government hospitals, blocked the roads for traffic, and chanted slogans against the Punjab government. They also staged demonstrations and sit-ins on Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road.
The protesting doctors were of the view that the government has failed to run the health department as it has resorted to outsourcing health facilities in at least 10 districts.
Meanwhile, patients faced severe problems due to the shutdown of OPDs and waited for long hours for the protest to end.
