Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched enquiry into financial irregularities and inordinate delay in completion of Kashmir Highway Project (KHP) Islamabad. The enquiry has been started under the directives of Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

FIA has sought all the record from CDA in connection with the payments made to construction companies.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed displeasure over enormous delay in accomplishment of this project and he has issued directives for initiation of action against those found responsible for changing design, unprecedented delay in completion of the project and spike in the cost of construction of the project.

Sources said that CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal had directed DG Works Asad Kyani to stop making more payments with regard to Kashmir high way project but the latter made payments running into millions of rupees in defiance of orders.

The CDA chairman while expressing displeasure over non compliance of his orders has transferred Asad Kyani from works department and appointed as DG structure and design, sources added.
