The Punjab government has warned all stake holders for providing temporary residential accommodation to avoid negligence in offering hiring facility to tenants or boarders and any infringement in this regard will be dealt with severely.
In a public awareness message issued on Friday, the provincial Home Department has warned all stake holders and directed to strictly adhere to the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Ordinance 15 (IOTORO-15), else the infringer would undergo imprisonment for six months besides imposition of fine up to Rs 100,000 in cash.
The message attracted attention of all property dealers, owners, hotel and hostel managements, and stated under the law for provision of temporary residential accommodation, they should intimate the unambiguous details of the tenants who have been provided residential facility, to the concerned police station within 24 hours or within 14 days as the case may be. Failing which, it said, legal proceedings will be initiated against them as already 1035 infringers of the law have been undergoing imprisonments of various counts all across the province.
As per law the facilitator is bound to provide necessary details of those offered residential accommodation, which include provision of complete details about the guest besides provision of photocopy of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) or Passport in case of Hotel or Hostel, to the relevant police.
In case of provision of housing residential accommodation, the property dealers and owners of the property have to provide the complete details about the tenant within 14 days of the signing of the tenancy deed.
In any case, the hostel or hotel management should not offer accommodation to the aspiring boarder if his or her identification documents are ambiguous or illegible.
They have also been made bound under the law to undertake thorough search of the luggage of the boarder that he or she may not be in position of any firearms or explosive material and such cases may immediately be reported to the police.
In case of possessing any legal firearm it may also be reported to the concerned police along with other data.
