NAB files reference against PWD housing society officers over plot conversions

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi Director General Irfan Mangi has filed a reference in accountability court Islamabad against officers of Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) Employees Cooperative Housing Society over misuse of authority in converting residential and amenity plots into commercial ones.

Action has been ordered against the following officers in the case against the management of Pak PWD Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad and others regarding misuse of authority by illegally converting residential plots into commercial plots and criminal breach of trust.

Imran Ahmad Khan (Ex- Technical Member)
Rana dil Nawaz (Ex-officio Member)
Malik Moeed Ilyas (Ex-Treasurer)

As per details, accused persons misused their authority by illegally converting residential plots into commercial plots. It is pertinent to mention that the accused in this case have already been arrested by NAB authorities.
DG (Director General) NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Naeem Mangi said that in light of the directions by Chairman NAB Justice Javad Iqbal, full efforts are being made to recover the looted money.
NAB has advised the general public to thoroughly verify the genuine schemes and societies before making any kind of investments and be alert to fraudulent practices.

A similar face-off ensued between  the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) and CDA (Capital Development Authority) when the former converted amenity areas into residential plots.
The CDA has decided to deny PHAF permission to convert its amenity plots into residential one in Officers Residencia, Kuri Road, Islamabad.

On similar violations, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared four housing societies located in Zone-IV as illegal and has issued a public notice where the civic agency’s planning wing has announced that these schemes were advertised and marked without any approval of CDA.

Ghauri Town, Rehman Residentia, Akbar Enclave and JS Block launched in Zone-IV of the Islamabad Capital Territory by Messrs Green Spires (Pvt) Ltd on Islamabad Highway and Lehtrar Road are inundated with residential and amenity plots being converted into residential.
