RAWALPINDI:
Private rescuers on Thursday recovered the body of Atif Hanif, 25, who was swept away in the floods following heavy rainfall, while efforts were underway to find the body of Arshad Mehmood, who was also swept away along with Atif.
Atif’s father Hanif Khattak told a private media outlet that his son’s body was found by rescuers he had brought from his native town in Jhand.
The young man was swept away along with his employer Arshad Mehmood at the employer’s house in Westridge on Tuesday.
The body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem and was later handed over to his parents for burial.
Efforts are still underway to recover the body of Arshad Mehmood. At least 12 people were killed during the first heavy rainfall of the monsoon season.
