KARACHI:

According to DIG Amir Ahmed Shaikh, over 1000 people die in traffic accidents of Karachi every year, as the district police have no time and the public accepts them as ‘fate’.

The traffic police of South district have been allowed to set up their own police stations, reportedly.

DIG Amir Ahmed Shaikh had written a letter to Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali asking for separate police stations in all of the city’s districts, and the police chief had agreed, granting them permission to start in South district as a pilot project.

The traffic police will now have the power to launch FIRs in accident cases, not only investigating but also holding the traffic violators and presenting them before the courts.
