Rain plays havoc in Zhob, houses collapse

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, played havoc in parts of Zhob city and adjacent areas on Sunday.

Houses in Ganj Mohalla, Kharotabad, Islamyar, Mandokhailabad and other areas were destroyed while a part of government high school in Killi Appozai was also damaged.

Floodwater entered houses damaging household items and other valuables and destroyed standing crops, fruit orchards and vegetables in rural areas. The rainwater also flowed on roads as drains remained choked in low-lying areas. A government-run high school Wadh Sheikhan was under knee deep water denying students access to school.

Deputy Commissioner Nazar Muhammad Khetran, Municipal Committee Chairman Abdul Saleem Mandokhail, Deputy Chairman Haji Naseeb Nasar and councillors visited the rain-hit areas and assured relief assistance.

Interacting with the affectees the deputy commissioner inquired about the prevailing situation and assured them of all required help in their hour of trial by the local administration.

The affectees have demanded of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority to declare the area flood-hit and announce financial assistance for the affectees.

On its part, PDMA distributed relief goods and food items among the affectees of torrential rain and storm in district Zhob. According to Radio Pakistan, the relief goods included tents, blankets, oil, sugar and other food items.
