ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) has admitted to certain ‘administrative lapses’ during the 2013 general elections, such as the printing of extra ballot papers and their retention by ROs.
PMLN counsel Shahid Hamid said there might have been some lapses but the Returning Officers did not misuse the extra ballot papers.
He further added that the extra ballot papers alone should not be termed ‘rigging’, and 2013 elections could not be declared void on these grounds.
The three-judge panel, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, is to conclude its proceedings today (Friday).
This will be the 39th hearing of the commission.
The election commission’s counsel, Salman Akram Raja, is likely to record his arguments. The panel has recorded the statements of 39 witnesses.
