CM removes two SPs, orders inquiry into May 23 incident

Following the directions of Sindh High Court in contempt case, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has ordered removal of two SPs with immediate effect and constituted a two-member committee of senior officers to inquire into the incident of May 23 and report him within 10 days.

He took this decision here at CM House on Friday while presiding over a meeting in the light of high court’s directives issued into the contempt case of besieging the high court on May 23. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Siddiq Memon, Secretary Law Mir Mohammad Shaikh and others.

The chief Minister taking serious view of the police action on May 23 constituted a two-member committee of senior officers of grade B-21 consisting Mr Subhan Memon, Chairman Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT), and Mr Mumtaz Ali Shah, Secretary Works & Services, to probe into the matter and submit report within 10 days.

Meanwhile, the chief minister ordered the transfer of two SPs Zishan Siddiqi of South and Asad Raza of Central to report to IG office with immediate effect. Both the police officers were deployed at the Sindh High Court on May 23.
