  • PML-N’s counsel prays JC stops PTI chief from making statements on commission’s proceedings

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s counsel Shahid Hamid has requested the judicial commission, probing alleged rigging in General Elections 2013, to bar Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including its chief Imran Khan, from making any statement on the commission proceedings.

Hamid suggested Khan was influencing JC through his press statements. The counsel grilled Khan for terming a witness “liar” and claiming that “organised rigging has been proved before the JC”. Khan should be restrained from giving such statements, he contended.

In this regard, the commission called PTI’s counsel Abdul Hafiz Pirzada in chambers and apprised him of PML-N’s reservations. Pirzada assured the commission of compliance.

Moreover, the counsels for PML-N and Election Commission proposed a review of all constituencies. They were advised to present their proposals in writing.

The proceedings, which also saw former Punjab election commissioner Mehboob Anwar appear, were adjourned till Thursday (today).
