The National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Centre of Excellence, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad will hold a moot of local historians at its premises located at Quaid-e-Azam University, New Campus, Shahdarra Road, at 10:00am today.
This was disclosed by the NIHCR Director Prof Dr Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah while talking to a group of senior historians who called on him here on Wednesday, says a press release.
He said that primary objectives of holding the historians moot are to discuss the role of historians in the present changing environment; to strengthen the discipline of history; to identify research areas; to facilitate research and development and to get feedback from the participants in the domain of historical research.
Dr Shah informed that about 150 teachers of history belonging to various universities and colleges of Islamabad and Rawalpindi regions have been invited to attend the one-day moot. Their feedback in this respect will help advance the discipline of history in the larger national interest, he opined.
The NIHCR Director hoped that the moot will help explore new avenues in research in history by providing a platform to historians to share their knowledge for the greater benefit of the history teachers, scholars, researchers and students alike.
