Jubilant over her cricket team’s performance in the World Cup and home series against Pakistan, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced flats, cars and prize money for the Bangladesh cricket team.

Bangladesh bagged their first ever T20 victory over Pakistan by seven wickets on Friday and whitewashed Pakistan 3-0. The victory was preceded by the team’s most successful campaign in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where they reached the quarter-finals.

Congratulating the team during a reception at the Ganabhaban, her official residence, Hasina announced additional rewards for the Bangladesh cricket team, according to an Indian channel.

“The team had received 10 million taka as winning bonus in the World Cup and 30 million taka more from ICC. Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and company would receive another 12.3 million taka from the BCB,” she said.

“The Bangladesh team will get another 10 million taka for their inspiring performance in the World Cup and another 10 million taka for the limited-overs series sweep against Pakistan,” she added.

Further, Bangladesh’s prime minister said the government would also provide cars and accommodation to the national team players.

On the field, a new-look Pakistan team suffered their worst-ever 3-0 whitewash in the one-day series — their first against Bangladesh.
