Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that distribution of bardana and procurement of wheat must be made transparent. “I will not tolerate corruption, favouritism and negligence in this sector.”

He said this when Minister for Food Gianchand Israni presented him a report about distribution of bardana and procurement of wheat in the province. He told the chief minister that he had suspended three food inspectors in Umerkot district for corruption in distribution of bardana.

Those who have been suspended include inspectors Iftikhar Incharge Samaro, Inspector Allahjurio Mangrio Incharge Ajun Rajar and inspector Qazi Mohsin Sand Incharge Raja Rasti and Qazi Mohsin Pali Centre.

The chief minister directed the minister that suspension was not enough and that he should also order an inquiry against them. The minister told the chief minister that distribution of bardana had almost been completed in the province. “Now farmers have started bringing wheat to the centres.

“Wheat centres at Johi, Moro, Naushehroferoze, Mirpurkhas and some other districts have started procurement,” he said, and added that the target of procuring 900,000 ton would be achieved without any difficulty. The chief minister directed him to keep visiting centres personally and redress the grievances of the farmers instantly.

The chief minister also directed the minister to keep an eye whether the farmers were given money in time or not. “I have already given instructions to Sindh Bank to ensure timely payment,” he said. The chief minister appreciated the efforts of the food minister.
