Security forces kill 10 terrorists in Mohmand

Security forces killed at least 10 terrorists in Shonkrai area of Mohmand Agency Saturday night, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued on Sunday.

The terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with troops when they tried entering Pakistan’s territory at about 01:30am. Of the 10, nine were between the ages 25 and 30, while one of the recovered bodies belonged to an individual around 50 years old. The bodies of the deceased militants are in custody of the security forces.

Earlier, reports had said that 10 unidentified bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from Shonkrai and shifted to Galanai Hospital Headquarters for identification. Political administration sources had said that bullet riddled bodies of 10 persons were found in tehsil Baizai of Mohmand Agency.

In the meanwhile in Peshawar, head of kidnapper’s gang involved in several cases of abduction was arrested during a crackdown on Sunday.

According to details, the police on a tip-off launched search operation in Mithra area. Mahroof Shah, stated to be head of a gang of kidnappers, involved in the kidnapping of doctors and other people for ransom, was detained.

Separately in Jafarabad, unidentified gunmen Sunday attacked a convoy of security forces when it was heading to Uch gas field from Dera Murad Jamali.

According to a report, one of the attackers was killed in exchange of fire with the security forces near Sohbatpur area. Three attackers managed to flee from the site.

The body was taken to District Headquarters Hospital for medico-legal formalities and a case was also lodged against unknown persons.

The attack comes a day after militants killed 20 labourers in Turbat area of Balochistan.
