“Go Imran Go” chants in Parliament

ISLAMABAD:

Parliament’s special session on Yemen was abuzz with slogans of “go Imran go” as Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, rejoined the house after a 7-month boycott, according to sources.

Khan made a return to the Parliament on the occasion of joint session convened by the government to debate Pakistan’s role in Yemen crisis.

When the session begun with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in chair, some of the MNAs from ruling PML-N chanted slogans against PTI and its leader Imran Khan.

The slogans also disrupted opening speech by Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, as speaker requested lawmakers to maintain order in the house.

Last year, PTI lawmakers, including Imran Khan, resigned from National Assembly, Sindh and Punjab assemblies to press government to form a judicial commission on alleged rigging in 2013 elections.

  1. I think P T I took a wrong decision on joining the joint parliamentary session. Imran Khan made the decision during the core committee's meeting. MNAs raised the slogans against P T I and chanted against him.

    It shows their dismay in the political process. Yemen 's situation is ever worsening and the Muslim Ummah is rightly disturbed over it. Parliamentary party of the PT I has decided to oppose the move to send armed forces in Yemen. I have ben saying this all along the start of the war. We should avoid direct intervention in this matter. I hope the government will follow the people's sentiment on this sensitive issue.

    Article: 64 Vacation of seats

    ARTICLE 64. Vacation of seats.-(1) A member of 1[Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament)] may, by writing under his hand addressed to the Speaker or, as the case may be, the Chairman resign his seat, and thereupon his seat shall become vacant.

    (2) A House may declare the seat of a member vacant if, without leave of the House, he remains absent for forty consecutive days of its sittings.Fresh election should be held on the vacated seat by PTI
