- Following court orders, police register case under sections 25-D and 506 and start investigation
A case has been registered against former minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Shahabuddin on the charges of harassing and threatening a woman.
Zahida Sami, resident of Bahara Kahu, filed an application with the police stating that Shahabuddin has been blackmailing and harassing her on the phone.
Sami approached the court by invoking Section 22-A when police did not take any action against the former minister.
During the hearing, the court ordered the police to register case against the accused Shahabuddin, conduct neutral investigation and fulfil all the legal formalities.
The police have registered a case against Shahabuddin under sections 25-D and 506 and started investigation.
The counsel for the accused has told the court that there is no substance in the allegations and such allegations are tantamount to taint his repute. If the case is proved he is ready to undergo every punishment term, he said.
The investigation officer of the case Sub Inspector Arshad Ali said countless allegations have been levelled in the application and the mobile phone has been taken from the applicant and the formal investigation process will be started after the data is obtained from the mobile phone. Nothing could be said before time, he added.
To a question, he said that the accused will be arrested after mobile data is acquired.
