Raza Rabbani has been sworn new Chairman Senate today in the Senate session at Parliament House today.
Newly elected Senators took oath as members of the Upper House before electing a new Chairman Senate and Deputy Chairman in the Senate session at Parliament House today, according to media sources.
Pakistan People Party’s Mian Raza Rabbani had already emerged as consensus candidate for the slot of Chairman Senate.
For the office of Deputy Chairman, sources said, the political parties have agreed on JUI-F’s Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri who was elected Senator from Balochistan.
The Senate session began with Senator Ishaq Dar in the chair. He was nominated by the President as the Presiding Officer to administer oath to newly elected lawmakers.
