A suspected target killer was killed Friday during an ‘escape bid’, a day after he has confessed before media of killing 22 people.
Suspect Obaid Urrehman had confessed of killing four doctors, eight policemen and a number of political workers in the metropolis in a press conference by the police on Thursday.
On Friday, police claimed that the suspect was killed in a crossfire when he attempted to escape from police custody and snatched a gun from a police constable.
Karachi, Pakistan`s biggest city and economic hub, has wrestled for several years with a bloody wave of criminal, sectarian and political murders, forcing the authorities to launch a targeted operation across the city to tackle criminal elements.
So far, dozens of suspected criminals have been arrested.
