Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in a high level meeting on Sunday has approved shifting of government schools in the province on solar energy under “Off-Grid Solution Programme.”
The chief minister said in the first phase of Off-Grid Solution Programme, more than four thousand primary schools in rural areas will be shifted on solar energy.
He also asked to prepare a feasible programme for provision of solar home solution to low income families. He also directed solar conversion projects for Basic Health Units and agriculture tube-wells.
Shahbaz asked to prepare a pilot project for provision of solar and bio-gas energy to the rural areas. He directed to review launching of the same programme in Thal as well.
MAKE ANTI-MEASLES CAMPAIGN A SUCCESS:
Meawhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while issuing instructions to the Health Department to make anti-measles campaign successful, directed that all possible resources be utilised for the purpose and the campaign be carried out as a national responsibility.
He said that vaccination is very important for saving children from measles and every child from six months to ten years of age be vaccinated.
The chief minister directed that health managers and health workers should work with commitment and national spirit for the success of anti-measles campaign.
