A report of police’s joint investigation team has acquitted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah, State Minister Abid Sher Ali and three others in a case pertaining to killing of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker.

A PTI activist, Haq Nawaz, 22, was shot dead during a clash between PML-N supporters, police and PTI workers during PTI’s Faisalabad lock down on December 8, 2014.

After killing of its worker, PTI filed a case against Rana Sanaullah, who was Punjab’s law minister at that time, and other PML-N leaders.

However, in its latest investigation report, the police acquitted Sananullah, his son-in-law Shehryar, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, DCO Faisalabad Noorul Amin Mengal and MPA Tahir Jamil from the charges, saying the nominated persons were not present at the crime spot.

The report held Ilyas aka Toti, Hafiz Imran and Usman as culprits responsible for killing the PTI worker. The three accused had opened fire on PTI rally, according to the police. The police will submit case challan in the court on Monday.
