Photojournalists capture ‘how cops do it’

As many as 100 photographs were displayed at the National Art Gallery (NAG) by well-established photojournalists. The exhibition attracted a number of visitors from the twin cities. The artwork aimed to depict an exact portrayal of the role of the police in the Pakistani society. The exhibition was arranged by Rawalpindi and Islamabad based photojournalists.

RIPJA surprised the audience with the novel idea of capturing different aspect of police activity and performance in the capital and displaying the same for the visitors. The exhibition was jointly sponsored by Ufone and the Islamabad police, and was inaugurated by Inspector General Islamabad Police Tahir Alam Khan.  As many as 100 photojournalists from the twin cities participated in the exhibition and demonstrated their mastery in photography by capturing police activities through different angles.

Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Alam said, “Photojournalists have portrayed a true picture of the Islamabad police’s performance skilfully through this exhibition, which is commendable.” Assistant Inspector General of Police Sultan Azam Temuri said that the exhibition would help identify the flaws in the performance of the police officials and bring improvement. He said the provincial police force had taken many steps to ensure accountability and reduce negligence on the part of police.

IGP Tahir Alam awarded prizes to the winners at the end of the event.
