179 suspects arrested during search operation in Islamabad

As many as 310 educational institutions have been declared “high-risk” in the Rawalpindi region and special arrangements have been made for their security.

The Special Branch has evolved a list of 5,600 schools and colleges located in all the four districts of Rawalpindi region, including 2,500 educational institutions of district Rawalpindi. These educational institutions have been divided in three categories in terms of security; A Plus, A and B.

Category A Plus includes educational institutions running under army management, elite educational institutions and state-run educational institutions where the strength of students runs into 500 or beyond.

Category A includes government run educational institutions and private educational institutions where the strength of student stands below 500.

Category B includes all other educational institutions which are not part of category A Plus and category A.

The Rawalpindi region comprises 310 category A Plus educational institutions and 430 in A category.

ISLAMABAD OPERATION:

The Islamabad Police Wednesday arrested 179 suspects during a search operation in various areas of the city, a police spokesman said.

Islamabad IGP Tahir Alam Khan directed all SDPOs and SHOs to enhance patrolling as well as checking in various areas of the city and conduct search operation at slum areas, Afghan habitats, under construction buildings, workshops, bus stands and inns.

Following his directions, sub-divisional police officers performing in Islamabad headed this search operation in the areas of Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area, Shahzad Town and Golra.

Station house officers of Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area, Shahzad Town and Golra police stations along with police team conducted search in the sectors I-11/4, F-12, E-11 Faizabad, Pandorian, Society Area under construction buildings and plazas. They succeeded in arresting 179 suspects who are being interrogated.

The Islamabad SSP said the purpose of this search operation and high vigilance is to ensure foolproof security in the city and he further directed all SHOs to continue it. He has also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.

PINDI OPERATION:

In the meanwhile, on the special directive of Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Umar Hayat Lalika, the police on Wednesday launched a special search operation in Khurram Colony and its adjoining areas in the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station.

Heavy police contingents, police commandos, special branch personnel, Elite Force, Muhafiz Squad and Ladies police conducted search operation in the area.

According to Rawalpindi Police Spokesman, Police checked 59 houses while several persons were interrogated. Two houses were thoroughly checked during the search operation, he added.

RA Bazar police on Tuesday conducted a search operation in TNT Colony and its adjoining areas.

A total of 61 houses were checked while 60 people were interrogated. He informed that special search operations to net the criminals would also be launched in other areas of the district.
