The post-mortem report of the child found dead in GreenTown on Friday confirmed that he had been sexually assaulted and died after being hanged from the roof of a local mosque.

Police on Friday had recovered the body of five-year-old Moeen from the rooftop of a local mosque and arrested two suspects in connection with the murder.

On Saturday, SP Saddar Ijaz Shafi Dogar said that they had arrested five more suspects, including the son of the prayer leader of the mosque where the body was found and the brother of the prayer caller.

“The prayer caller is a prime suspect because Moeen’s body was recovered from a locked room on the roof of the mosque and it was his room,” Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains told Pakistan Today. He added that all suspects would remain in custody until the police received forensic reports of the suspects.

On Saturday morning Moeen’s family protested in GreenTown with his dead body. However, they ended their protest peacefully after CCPO Wains assured them that the criminals would be brought to justice within three days.

The child’s body was later buried following a funeral which was attended by a large number of people.

The Punjab CM, who had taken notice of the incident late on Friday, asked the CCPO to ensure the culprits are arrested and the family gets justice.

Moeen, who had been missing since Thursday evening, was accompanying some friends on a fund-raising initiative for Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW). His friends said that Moeen had suddenly went missing during a power outage.
