*Three killed as train hits tractor trolley,

As many as three persons were killed when a train hit a tractor trolley at railway crossing on Wednesday.

Rescue sources said the accident took place at railway crossing in village 45/15-L of Mian Channu where driver of the tractor trolley tried to cross the railway line who could not see the fast moving train due to zero visibility caused by dense fog.

The tractor trolley was completely destroyed in the accident resulting in death of all the three people including driver on the spot.

The bodies were shifted to hospital where they were handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.

THREE KILLED IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF PROVINCE:

Meanwhile, at least three persons were killed in separate traffic accidents due to dense fog in the province on Wednesday.

According to police source, dense fog has blanketed the provincial capital due to which various road accidents were reported. A man was killed when a truck hit his motorbike near Jain Mandir. The deceased was identified as Ateeq.

Another accident took place at Liton Road when a truck crushed a motorbike rider, injuring him critically. The injured was identified as Nazim and he was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

In another accident, one person was killed and eight others injured when two passenger wagons collided with a tractor trolley in Bahawalnagar on Wednesday.

Motorway was closed for traffic as visibility dropped to zero whereas flight schedules were also affected troubling the passengers.

The Allama Iqbal International Airport’s operations were shut down and the international and domestic flights flying in were diverted to other airports

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the fog would continue to blanket the province throughout the next week.

More than 60 feeders of Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) tripped due to the adverse weather conditions causing power outages in many areas of the city.

The authorities have advised the people to avoid unnecessary journey and turn their fog-lights on while travelling.
