The Business Advisory Committee of the Senate on Friday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Army Public School, Peshawar and termed it a barbaric act.
Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari presided over the meeting of the committee. In his opening remarks, the Senate chairman strongly condemned the attack on School in Peshawar and observed that the government should take stern action.
“The leadership has to show unity and maturity,” Nayyer Bokhari observed.
Parliamentary leaders and members of the committee endorsed chairman’s point of view and condemned the incident in strong words.
The committee discussed the modalities and agenda of the current Senate session. It was informed that the current session would continue for two weeks. Important legislative matters and other significant issues would be debated besides a thorough discussion would take place on Peshawar massacre in which innocent students and teachers were killed by terrorists.
The committee unanimously sympathised with bereaved families and called it a national tragedy.
The meeting was attended among others by Senators Mushahid Ullah Khan, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Farhatullah Babar, Kamal Ali Agha, Kalsoom Perveen, Abbas Khan Afridi, Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Abdul Rauf and Shaikh Aftab Ahmed, Minister of the State for Parliamentary Affairs. Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik was also present on the occasion.
