It was some party at Rawal Lake last week. Quite the night of the generals. It had much of the top brass and quite a bunch of retired generals. And sea food aplenty to top it all. But guess who walked in to a warm welcome? The Khan of the dharna fame! Right in the middle of building Naya Pakistan. He stayed a good 45 minutes before disappearing just as fast. Interesting stopover between the jalsa and the shutdown.

Those who matter in Lahore know, of course, that Gymkhana elections are due at the end of the month. So these are the days of hustle and bustle that precede the famous event. Of late, though, these elections have also become much like Pakistan’s elections, and muscling and squeezing in new members is all the rage. It turns out that Kashmala Tariq and Fariha Pervez have been doing just that, and its cause a stir that has reached all the way to the high court, of all places. Apparently a member was not too pleased, and went legal. How the pranks of the privileged sometimes make the courts step in.

It turns out that some of Lahore’s seemingly respectable ladies are up to some foul play. They’re pretty prominent on the modelling scene; making arrangements and all. Like arranging modelling tours to Karachi and Dubai, which they are known for. But those who know speak of a deeper, uglier side to the business. When they connected the dots, they found modelling the newest cover for the oldest profession; one which has apparently won them precious riches in the two thriving port cities. Here’s someone who needs a brush with the law.
