*Company observes International day of Persons with Disabilities
*As many as 3,608 free transport cards issued to disabled and 20,606 to senior citizens
Lahore Transport Company has observed the International day of Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday, because over one billion people (15 percent of world’s population) is living with some form of disability. As per impeccable vision of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the LTC is providing free transport facilities to the disabled persons so that they could not only live their life with dignity and respect but could also constructively play their role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. The LTC has issued 24,214 free transport cards including 3,608 free transport cards to the disabled persons and 20,606 for the senior citizens for their comfortable travelling in the public transport. For the promotion of this societal cause, the LTC has setup Que-Matic system for the senior citizens and specially-abled persons for their convenience to get free transport cards without any hassle.
LTC Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan laid emphasis on establishing various forums, application of legal frameworks in accordance with the observance of international laws and to initiate information campaigns through which persons having disabilities and their families can be integrated into the societies. He said that there is need to highlight the developments and impediments in implementing disability sensitive policies to promote public awareness to dismantle the barriers and open corridors for society as whole.
LTC CEO Khawaja Haider Latif has said that the LTC will carry on its mission to impart public friendly facilities by keeping in view the notions of corporate social responsibility and all the resources ought to be available to make them productive part of society.
