Fashion Pakistan Week: Three-day affair defines winter tones for 2014

Karachi- Fashion Pakistan, the leading platform for Pakistani fashion designers, kicked off the three-day Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn/Winter 2014 (FPWAW14) on 25th November 2014, at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi.   Fashion Pakistan prides itself on being the only council in Pakistan that produces two seasonal fashion weeks every year. Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn Winter 2014 is the second fashion week for Fashion Pakistan this year, showcasing the Autumn/Winter collection of designers. The Council’s major objective is to give designers a chance to display their various collections on a national forum, for both major global seasons, Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.

 FPWAW14 DAY ONE

The first day of FPWAW14 began with Ather Hafeez for Sana Safinaz with his collection inspired by bohemian culture, the 70s, and the beach.

Ather was followed by Ishtiaq Afzal Khan’s ‘Aurora’, inspired by the shades of morning, a collection deemed somber and feminine.

Levis took the stage with ‘A Golden State Of Mind’ celebrating the diversity of California.

 

Ayesha Farook Hashwani’s Baroque collection comprised of capes, jackets, and shrugs for this winter.

Gul Ahmed brought out a variety of fabrics blended into stylish yet contemporary garments.

Aamna Aqeel’s ‘Black on Fire’ signified the stark use of black and white, dark in relation to white.

Concluding the show was Zaheer Abbas’ collection ‘Neo Nude’ with usage of light airy fabrications. Neo Nude featured contemporary silhouettes that exuded a sense of sensual mysteriousness, ending the show with a bang.

Speaking at the end of Day One, CEO Fashion Pakistan Wardha Saleem said, “We’re really happy with energy and buzz with which the first day of FPWAW14 kicked off. We look forward to the same amount of excitement on the rest of the days as well. The opening day has gone splendidly and we’re hoping all days go as smoothly as today. ”

FPWAW14 DAY TWO

The second day of FPWAW14 began with Shehla Chatoor’s collection “Byo´bu” which is inspired by the art of Japanese painted paper folding screens.

Emraan Rajput’s collection, “ALPHA”, military inspired clothing was a classic concept.

Sanam Chaudhris  “Bano” was refreshing as ever with usage of vintage shades, such as ivory, wine red, black, and burnished gold, making the collection stand out.

Huma Adnan for FnkAsia and her folk spirit inspired collection was a breath of fresh air, with folk accents, rich embroidery and a free-spirited feeling.

  Deepak n Fahad followed this act with their beautiful monochrome collection, ranging from gowns to capes, to jackets and flowy silhouettes.

  Adnan Pardesy collection “labyrnith ” based on luxe fabrics including silks, crepes, chiffons, charmeuse silk and net was a fusion highly appreciated.

  Closing the show, Deepak Perwani with his “Everything but the Girl” collection with luxurious fabric and immaculate tailoring made just for men, was as fiery as ever, ending the show with a bang.

Speaking at the end of the show, CEO Fashion Pakistan Wardha Saleem said, “The second show has been even better, the energy has been high as ever. Knowing that people come to these fashion weeks with expectations, it is truly a wonderful feeling when you know they walk out of here satisfied.” FP Chairperson Sanam Chaudhri responded, “I am honored and humbled with the response I have received for my collection, it is great having your work respected and appreciated and above it all, it’s such a surreal feeling when you’re amidst so many great designers showing together. We’ve all got our fingers crossed for the last day of FPWAW14, they’re going to be some surprises worth seeing!”.

 

 FPWAW14 DAY THREE  

The third and the last day of FPWAW14 began with Sadaf Malaterre’s collection opening the show to a burst of energy.

Following Sadaf, Maheen Karim took over the ramp, with her collection of formal dresses, embellished velvets, regal skirts paired with evening chiffons and wintery digital print.

Nida Azwer’s “The Renaissance Collection” a lot of jackets, shorter hemlines for shirts, lenghas paired with crop tops were seen.

Mohsin Ali for Sana Safinaz brought on the ramp structured jackets, tailored pants, masqueline fabric with very submissive surface treatments, giving a polished look.

  Faraz Manan’s “The Cruise Collection A/W 2014/15” featuring crop tops, flared pants, tweed jackets, embellished gowns and skirts took the stage by storm.

Nauman Arfeen brought his “Royal Parade” on the ramp, with a hallmark of intricate embroideries, fine needlecraft and luxuriant gold beadwork adorn, rich materials such as embossed homespun raw silks and elegant jamavars.

The FPWAW14 display was rounded up by Maheen Khan; showcasing her last collection “To Karachi With Love” as a designer.

The official choreographer for the event was Hasan Sheryar Yasin and the official photographer for the event was the wonderful Tapu Javeri and his team, PR for the event was managed by Lahore-based Latitude CRS.
