Pindi commsioner wants flawless security for Ashura procession

To review the security and other arrangements to facilitate the participants of the processions of Muharramul Haram in Rawalpindi Division, a high level meeting was held here Monday in RDA which was chaired by Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar and Rawalpindi Division Commissioner/ RDA DG Capt (r) Zahid Saeed. MNA Malik Abrar, former MNA Shakeel Awan, MPA Raja Hanif, former MPA Ziaullah Shah, former MPA Sardar Naseem, DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar, CPO Humanyon Bashir, CTO Shoaib Khurram, Green Task Force Chairman Dr Jamal Nasir and other relevant officials of police and district administration attended the meeting.

The meeting was appraised that all possible security measures have been taken in order to make routes of Muharram processions safe and to avoid any inconvenience. It was decided in the meeting that aerial surveillance of the processions will be done on  Muharram 10.

Provincial Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar appreciated the role of Ulema and Mashaikhs for their cooperation and role in maintaining peace during processions and Majalis. He directed district administration to take all possible measures for security arrangements of processions.

The Rawalpindi commissioner directed all concerned to observe zero tolerance policy. He said, out of total 726 processions, 380 processions are still left which were to be taken out in the Rawalpindi Division. He directed all supervisory officers to remain vigilant and updated on the situation. The Rawalpindi CPO gave an overview of situation from Muharram 1 to Muharram 8, and also briefed on the salient features of the deployment.

The meeting was appraised that in the current circumstances external threat cannot be ignored. It was decided that sniffer dogs will be used for detecting explosive material on the routes.

The meeting condemned Wagah blast, offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.
