Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Saturday the reduction in petroleum prices “a friendly step towards the people of Punjab which provides immediate benefit and relief to them”.
The chief minister said that the provincial government, administration and departments and institutions concerned were responsible for directly providing the people with this monetarily beneficial step.
Shahbaz said that immediate steps should be taken with regard to decrease in prices of essential items, fruits and vegetables. He promised that a comprehensive strategy would be evolved for immediate reduction in transport fares. He said institutions concerned should play an active role in providing benefit for reduction in prices of petroleum products to the common man.
The CM directed Punjab Police inspector general (IG) and labour secretary that availability of petroleum at petrol pumps should be ensured at all cost. He said that special teams should be constituted and indiscriminate action should be taken against the owners of petrol pumps responsible of selling petrol at higher than fixed rates.
The CM said that there should be no complaint of non-availability of petroleum products at any petrol pump. He said that the government should be vigilant with regards to availability of petroleum products at petrol pumps and benefit the province.
