Over Rs 48b spent on war on terror in five years, NA told

The National Assembly was informed on Monday that over Rs 48 billion have been spent on the war against terror in last five years.

In a written reply submitted by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the House was informed that out of total Rs 48 billion spent, Rs 23.8 billion were spent in Islamabad Capital Territory alone.

The House was told that approximately Rs 3 billion were spent in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and over Rs 8.5 billion were spent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). It further stated that over Rs7 billion were spent by Punjab Rangers and total of Rs1.5 billion spent in Balochistan.

The House also passed a unanimous resolution assuring Pakistan’s continued political, moral and diplomatic support to the just struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their right to self-determination enshrined in UN resolutions.

The resolution, moved by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, lauded the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir for resisting Indian occupation despite brutal atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian security forces.

The House also passed a resolution condemning the recent attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman in Quetta.
