Military action ‘Khyber-1’ was officially launced Friday by the security forces against militants in areas of Bara in Khyber Agency, a private news channel reported.
According to the report, at least 11 militants have been killed on the first day of military action.
The report added that the main aim of the operation was to clear Bara from militants until the border of Tirah valley, after which the second phase of the operation will commence.
A curfew has been imposed and people have been prohibited to enter or leave Bara. Roads and routes leading to the Bara and surroundig areas of Akakhel, Malikdinkhel and Sipah have been sealed.
