Over 50 insurgents killed in Afghan operations

At least 55 Taliban insurgents were killed during a countrywide operation led by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Sunday.

The operations also led to the injury of 35 insurgents and the arrest of four others.

The operations were conducted in Parwan, Kunduz, Faryab, Jowzjan, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktika, Nangarhar and Helmand provinces, the statement announced.

“The Taliban suffered heavy casualties in Nangarhar, Maidan-Wardak and Paktika provinces,” he said. “They lost several of their local commanders.”

Furthermore, according to the statement, the ANSF “discovered and defused 88 different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan in Uruzgan, Ghor, Sar-e-Pul and Paktika provinces.”

The statement did not provide details of the ANSF causalities. The Taliban have not yet commented about the operations.
