Punjab Police inspector general has withdrawn 4,000 police officers deployed for security in the sit-ins of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad.

It should be noted that the federal government had called in additional police contingents from different parts of the country for security during the sit-ins of PAT and PTI.

Police officials have said that the additional contingents have been called back from the protests in the federal capital on the instructions of IG Punjab for providing security in Muharramul Haram.

The police contingents had been sent back to their hometowns, officials said.

The Interior Ministry, on the other hand, has prepared a new security plan for the federal capital for Muharram and the sit-ins of the two parties.
