Citizens of the capital city have lauded the work and performance of sanitation staff of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) who worked round the clock during Eidul Azha holidays and removed more than 60,000 offal and remains of sacrificial animals.
The residents praised the effective measures taken by authorities concerned to keep the city clean on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
According to a spokesperson for the CDA Directorate, during the emergency operation on the occasion of Eidul Azha, 2500 workers of Sanitation Directorate including cleaners, supervisory staff, contractors and their staff, and officers are actively participated in the operation.
The workers were equipped with more than 100 vehicles, tractors and trolleys, compactors, trucks, dumpers, shovels, dozers etc. Lime powder was sprinkled and applied to garbage trolleys and sacrificial places.
For disposal of offal and other wastes of sacrificial animals, at least 29 deep ditches were dug out at 17 different locations in entire city for proper disposal of sacrificial animal’s waste. Besides, two emergency cells were established at Sanitation Directorate and at Transport Cell of Sanitation Directorate in Fire Headquarters, which remained functional round the clock. In Rawalpindi, the sister city of the capital, the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) and Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards also made elaborate arrangements to ensure cleanliness in their respective jurisdictions Eid holidays of around 1,700 sanitation workers and officials were cancelled to ensure cleanliness during Eid
