Cop sent on judicial remand for assaulting blasphemy accused

An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has sent a policeman, Muhammad Yusuf, to jail on 14-day judicial remand for opening fire on a blasphemy accused British national of Pakistan origin, Asghar Ali, at Adiala Jail.
The police produced Yusuf in ATC on expiry of his physical remand and told the court that elementary investigation has been made from Yusuf in firing case and no more investigation is needed. Therefore, he should be sent to jail on judicial remand, the police requested.
Sadiqabad Police had registered blasphemy case against Ali on the report from Hafiz Khan from Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) and court had awarded death sentence to Kazab.
Ali used sacrilegious remarks repeatedly in Aidala Jail and Yusuf opened fire on him a week before.
