Sacrificial animals have started arriving in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi from different parts of the country.
The sellers are trying to occupy ideal and main spaces in the markets to attract maximum number of buyers. The residents of twin cities have started visiting the cattle markets to buy sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha.
An animal seller Rehmat Ullah said that there was shortage of animals because of floods in various cities of Punjab including Sargodha, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Multan and Muzaffargarh from where most of the animals are brought into markets for sale. He said that the prices are likely to come down in case a large number of animals arrive in the city before Eid.
Rehmat said that maximum number of animals are expected to be sold on day and night before Eidul Azha as usual.
The prices of bulls in the market have increased as compared to last year while the `A’ category bull is on sale for Rs 100,000 and onwards against its previous price of Rs 70,000 and the price of `B’ category bull has increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 and prices of `C’ category has surged from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, Ghulam Hussain an animal dealer claimed.
He said that despite the increased prices of sacrificial animals the demand of the animals is being expected to get momentum ahead of Eidul Azha in few days.
“The sellers are demanding high prices for the animals because they have a lot of time to wait for the customers ready to pay their desired prices,” said a buyer Muhammad Irshad.
The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) issued directions that strict action would be taken against those who sell or buy animals at any place outside the designated markets.
