Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the provincial administration to make all-out efforts to rescue the flood-affected people. While visiting the flood-hit areas of Athara Hazari Tehsil at Trimu, the CM said, “I have directed the administration to remain busy in rescue operations and not waste time in my protocol.”
He said that the irrigation department officials were bound to brief him about the flood situation in the area.
The DCO and the Secretary Irrigation briefed him about the flood situation and expected losses in the district. The level of water was 300,000 cusecs at Trimu headworks and water level was increasing, they said.
Talking to reporters, Shahbaz said that it was a big test of the nation and appealed to villagers to leave their homes for their own safety. He said the government would stand by the flood-hit people and serve them speedily. He said relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people is the top priority of the government.
SLAMS IMRAN KHAN:
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s “irresponsible” remarks terming Chinese investment as a loan are part of some conspiracy to disrupt Pakistan-China relations, while adding that the allegations are yet another lie concocted by Khan.
Speaking to media persons in Lahore shortly before his visit to the flood-hit areas of Punjab, the CM said that a critical 10,400 megawatt power project was due to be signed during the Chinese president’s scheduled visit to Pakistan.
He further explained that the visit had a hundred percent investment agenda and not a single rupee of debt was involved. Condemning the allegations leveled by Khan, he said that Khan has given three contradictory statements regarding the postponement of Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan.
