WCB sanitary staff drain rain water from roads

Walton Cantonment Board (WCB) sanitary staff drained rain water from various roads, within its area, on Sunday.

Walton Board Chief Sanitary Inspector Muhammad Saleem said that five shifts are being run and 70 sanitary staffers were performing emergency duty at each shift.

He said that they have been provided 16 de-watering pumps, 3 sucker machines, 5 tankers and 18 disposal units to drain rainwater from roads.

Those roads were being cleared from rain water include: Cavalry Ground, Walton Road, Academy Road, Super Town, Al-Noor Town, Model Colony, Ghazi Road, Ali View Road, Nishat Colony, R A Bazaar, Chungi Amer Sidhu, Kainchi and Defence Main Boulevard, he added.

Two flood control centres had been set up one in WCB main office and the second one at Walton Road 27 Number Stop.

The staff also sprinkled limestone along the roads and streets to check the breeding of mosquitoes and flies.

Chief Executive Officer Wasim Shahid and Chief Engineer Niaz Asghar inspected the cleanliness work.
