*Mehmoodur Rasheed government perplexed over prevailing political crisis, tying to create rifts in army

Incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is baffled over the prevailing political crisis and is trying to create a rift in the army, said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed while talking to journalists on Saturday.

Rasheed alleged that baseless reports published in foreign media that five Generals of Pakistan Army wanted to remove Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has gravely hurt the credibility of the army.

He blamed that office of the information minister was involved in spreading such malicious campaign against the armed forces.

The opposition leader said that the prime minister should prefer to step down from his office instead of being blackmailed by his allies.

Rasheed said that the government has become totally dysfunctional and therefore it has no moral justification to rule the masses any more.

“Attitude of compromise on principles was inciting for rebellion”, he added while criticizing the stubbornness of the PM which was leading to a clash among the political forces.

The PTI leader said that when an opposition talked about ending the Parliaments over personal differences, the government neglects the threat for some reason, but when Imran Khan with solid evidences of rigging in general elections challenged the legal status of the Parliament, he (Imran) was declared rebel and deceiver.

Rasheed further said that some politicians who consider the politics as source of earning livelihood were bent upon intensifying the political crisis further through provocative speeches.

How a government which seems docile to opposition for extending support in crucial time could rule independently and impartially, he questioned.
