The Sindh Government has extended the Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) for one year after completion of earlier PC-1 period of three-year time from 2011 to 2014, said Monitoring and Alleviation Officer Sindh, AIDS Control Programme, Dr Aftab Ahmed on Thursday.
He said the government had extended the Sindh AIDS Control Programme from June 30, 2014, to June 2015, while PC-1 of further three-year extension from 2014 to 2017 has been forward to authorities concerned for approval and this summery is under consideration.
He said Sindh AIDS Control Programme efforts had brought positive change in society as hidden cases HIV/AIDS had started being reported in the centers. He said around 761 HIV positive cases had been reported in the year 2014. He said the AIDS programme started in 1995 and registered 3,142 HIV/AIDS positive cases so far out of them 1233 HIV positive patients were provided treatment in centers.
