Minister praises Larkana police for resolving Saima murder case

LARKANA: Provincial home minister Suhail Anwar Siyal commended the efforts of the Larkana police for “resolving the rape-murder case of 9-year Saima Jarwar.”

He was talking to newsmen after offering condolence to the bereaved family.

He said that accused should be given exemplary punishment. He said during his previous term as home minister he had sent a PC-1 to Information Technology minister for approval for installation of CCTV cameras in Larkana which is yet to be approved.

He presented a cheque of Rs500, 000 to the Saima’s family which they gave to Larkana police as a token of appreciation of their efforts in resolving the case.

On April 25, a day after she went missing, minor victim Saima’s body was found in the pond near Tayyab Hotel along Dodai Road. She was raped, murdered and dumped in a sewage drain from where her lifeless body had found its way to the pond.

The father informed the police that Saima had briefly left home on the night of April 24 to buy sweets from a nearby tuck shop but did not return.  “We searched for her in the neighbourhood and houses of relatives for hours but could not find her,” wept the father.

The parents of the minor had lodged a complaint at the Haideri police station soon after she had gone missing.
