Sindh govt allocates Rs 13.2b for health sector

The Sindh government is giving priority to health sector in the current financial year 2014-15 as 13.2 billion rupees have been allocated in this budget with an aim to speed up the ongoing schemes and start 84 new schemes.

According to Radio Pakistan quoting official sources, out of this allocation, Rs 1.65 billion have been earmarked for the schemes of preventive health care such as hepatitis control and polio eradication programme.

Other major new schemes that will be carried out during this financial year include establishment of new OPD complex at Civil Hospital, construction of a 400-bed hospital at NIPA Chowrangi and establishment of Liver Transplant Unit at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant in Karachi.

The schemes also include establishment of a 500-bed hospital at LUMHS Jamshoro, establishment of a cardiology hospital, Paeds hospital and a kidney centre in Hyderabad and construction of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplant in Sukkur.

Meanwhile, up-gradation of district headquarter hospitals and 39 Taluka headquarter hospitals all over the province will also be completed during this financial year.
