The Lahore High Court (LHC) has admitted for regular hearing a petition filed by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) seeking dissolution of national and provincial assemblies.

The court has issued notices to federation, Punjab government and attorney general and sought reply from them till September 19.

It has been prayed in the petition that members of National Assembly (NA) and provincial assemblies don’t fulfill the requirement laid down in article 62 and 63 of the constitution, therefore, all the assemblies be dissolved.

The petitioner cited to the statement of former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah wherein he had stated that members of assemblies receive commission in connection with development works and it proves that members of assemblies don’t come up to the criterion enshrined in article 62 and 63.
