District Health Department Rawalpindi has postponed the 3-day anti polio campaign due to uncertain situation and security reasons.

The campaign was to be commenced from Monday and new schedule for this campaign will be issued in the next week. The inclusion of teachers in this move is being targeted by the teachers associations. They are of the view that the court had already given decision that the teachers be assigned no duty other than teaching and the district health department has violated the court orders by deploying the teachers in the campaign.

The parents of students have also voiced their strong protest over deputing the teachers in this drive saying that the schools remained closed near 3 months on account of summer vacation and now detailing them in anti polio drive will cause loss to the students in terms of educational activities.

District Health Officer Dr Zafar Iqbal said the campaign has been postponed due to security reasons and prevailing situation in the country and new schedule will be issued after return of normalcy in the situation and consent of the teachers.
