Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq Sunday urged National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq not to accept the resignations submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs, saying it would escalate the political crisis.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Sadiq at his Lahore residence, the JI chief said that there was still room for talks.

“There’s a need to focus on the ground realities to find a peaceful way to end the crisis,” said the JI chief, which had led to an economic crisis and disrupted routine life of the citizens.

Speaking after Haq, Sadiq said he hoped he would not have to accept the PTI’s resignations on Monday. He also expressed hope that the two sides would resolve their issues before that.
