Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at Prime Minister House on Tuesday and discussed issues pertaining to national security. According to reports, the meeting continued for three hours.
According to reports, the civil and military leaders discussed the current political turmoil and security situation due to the on-going Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests and their call to march towards Red Zone in the federal capital.
During the meeting, the PM reportedly said that the government is open to political dialogue with both PAT and PTI to call off their protest rallies “but the PAT and PTI leadership have refused to talk”.
The decision by the Indian government not to send its foreign secretary to Pakistan for scheduled talks was also discussed in the meeting.
The military leadership apprised the premier about the progress made in ongoing Zarb-e-Azb military operation in North Waziristan.
