PTI enjoys zero success rate in decided election complaints, PTI’s 21, PML-N’s 28 complaints pending with ECP, central and Punjab govt would not be changed if all pending PTI and PML-N complaints are decided.
A total of 21 complaints of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and 28 of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are pending with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), states a post election report of Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN).
The report said that review of post-election complaint-handling undermines the rigging charges, as out of 410 complaints lodged with the ECP, 301 were decided by May 31, 2014.
According to the report, over 100 complaints are pending and election tribunals are not delaying PTI complaints only.
The report said that out of PTI’s 58 total complaints, 21 are pending whereas out of PML-N’s 66 complaints, 28 are still pending.
According to the report, PTI has zero success rate to-date in its 37 decided complaints whereas the PML-N has had only had four successes in 38 decided complaints. The tribunals have de-seated two PTI and 9 PML-N winners to-date. Thus, there appears to be little evidence that the tribunals are biased, the report states.
Even if the PTI wins all of its remaining complaints, it would not gain power in Punjab or nationally, states the report, adding that even PML-N will retain power both in center and Punjab even if it loses all complaints pending against it.
