UK won’t leave IDPs alone

During a meeting with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Thursday, British High Commissioner Philip Barton says international community will provide necessary assistance to Pakistan to meet the challenges of huge internal displacement of people from the areas of operation.

The high commissioner apprised the finance minister that the United Kingdom strongly supports Pakistan’s efforts in fight against terrorism. He assured the finance minister that his government will continue to support IDPs through World Food Program and other UN agencies.

The finance minister informed the high commissioner that as a result of prudent economic policies of the present government, the economy is moving in the right direction. He said that after the first year of fire fighting, the economy is now in a comfortable situation.

The finance minister also informed that there has been a vast displacement of people from North Waziristan Agency and the federal government is fully determined to extend all humanitarian support to assist and rehabilitate the displaced persons.
