Incidents of clashes partially disrupted polling for by-elections at Pindi Bhattian PP-107 on Thursday.
An untoward incident took place in Pindi Bhattian where scores of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers surrounded Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N)’s female MPA Salma Butt and pushed her when she arrived at a polling station. However, she managed to leave the scene in her car.
The public misbehaved with the woman a day after she slapped PTI MPA Asif Mahmood in the Punjab Assembly allegedly for making derogatory remarks against her leader Imran Khan.
Display of arms by ruling PML-N workers was also witnessed at some polling stations.
In the meanwhile, speaking to a private television channel on Thursday, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that those who displayed arms would be arrested, adding that Rangers and Elite Police commandos have been deployed at polling stations in Pindi Bhattian. He also claimed that PTI workers were involved in casting fake votes.
Speaking on the incident of slapping, the law minister said that action will be taken against the PTI lawmaker in accordance with the law.
